What is the next generation of home ,and which parameters do we have to take in account? That’s a problematic every architect, civil and environmental engineer is facing during his career.
The housing concept is totally different in our porject: since the primitive hut, Humans fought for imposing their decisions to nature. According to the actual environnemental situation, establishing a new hierarchy between us and nature becomes a priority.
From an architectural point of view nature could be imperative with the whole structure, and then, structure will be imperative with inhabitants. In order to respond to this statement our home, like a living organism, reacts depending on different contextual parameters.
This kind of model enhance several problems:
– Urbanistic problems: If the structure is mobile, how to fix the private proprety and title deed?
All cities are based on a coherent and fixed network of streets and private properties. We wanted to keep this aspect of the actual cities, fixing the base of our structures. It will be an “Anchored Home”, that can’t evoluate behind the property. In this case, all the district stays coherent, and the streets network stays fixed.
– Environmental problems: How to be the most efficient regarding environmental conditions, and energy needs of the hours?
All the structural frames will react contextually. The move will depend of ressources that the house can obtain of the environment as sunbeams, rain water, temperature variations and natural ventilation. The aim is to increase the surface of the structure for capting mor ressources.
-Protection problems: Even if our structure is evolutive, we wanted to keep the aspect of “protection” of a house. So how to take this aspect in account? The environmental items suggest that the house is less protective toward danger We didn’t define the danger, so it will stay an abstract idea. But to imagine it, you can refer to the sea anemone that close itself when it detects a dangerous fish, or a predator. In this way, our structure will grows up toward the danger, like an offensive house, and then, when the danger reach a breaking distance, the house go back to its original shape, that optimize the inhabitant protection.
– Structural problems: If the structure is mobile, how to create a stable structure and how to avoid collapses?
Environmental and protective items suggest a really important structural problem: the height and the range could become dramatical for the structure. That’s why we imagine an interactive base (the base which is fixed), from which concrete walls can add thickness to the frames, or it could be insulation, or windows. In this way, the thickness of walls will be linked to the range and the shape of all frames, depending on the position of danger and it’s intensity.
Considering all those parameters, we havec modelized a structure that can eventually have a future, and that is coherent regarding all the most important items of an architect, a civil engineer and an environmental engineer.
